Yulianna Balitska
Dear Student Council,
My name is Yulianna Balitska, and I am a student in the second year of Nursing Faculty.
I am deeply convinced that student years are not only about the lectures and labs but also about making new acquaintances, hanging out after classes, organizing captivating and significant events, making an impact on other students’ lives, and expanding their worldview (especially if it comes to the international communities in the university).
I am writing to express my enthusiasm for becoming a member of the Student Council of our university. As someone deeply invested in the well-being and progress of our student community, I believe I can contribute to making our campus a more vibrant, supportive, and inclusive environment. My ambition to join the council stems from a desire to represent the voices of my fellow students and enact meaningful change that enhances their university experience.
Student Council plays a significant role in shaping student life. From organizing activities that unite the community to advocating for policies that improve the student experience, I see the council as an essential pillar of our campus. By joining, I aspire to use my leadership and collaborative skills to ensure every student feels heard, valued, and empowered.
My experiences in leadership roles and project management in the international youth organization “AIESEC” and student council at school and Ukrainian university have taught me the importance of listening to others, problem-solving, and taking initiative.
As a student council member, I aim to:
Strengthen communication between students and university leadership.
It’s possible to create accessible platforms for students to voice their concerns and ideas. I want to ensure transparency and open dialogue, leading to better decision-making.
Foster a more inclusive campus.
Initiate a diversity-focused event, mental health awareness campaigns, and support and interest groups. It’s exceedingly crucial for me to ensure that every student, regardless of background, feels a sense of belonging.
Create enriching student life opportunities.
I am eager to plan more social, academic, and cultural events catering to various student interests. It can improve student engagement, promote well-being, and encourage a more balanced university life.
I can bring fresh ideas and a proactive attitude to the Student Council. Some of the initiatives I would like to introduce include:
Create a mentorship program connecting first-year and upper-level students to foster a more robust support network. Furthermore, professionals should organize workshops on mindfulness, stress management, and coping strategies.
Create new student clubs and organizations that cater to diverse interests, from arts to tech, ensuring all students find a community to engage with.
Implement a peer tutoring system where students can receive help in specific subjects from fellow students who excel in those areas.
Organize workshops that teach effective study techniques, time management, and exam preparation strategies.
Organize events celebrating different cultures, such as international food fairs, talent shows, or cultural talks. I have already got the idea for a cultural speech with the natives from different countries to dispel myths and stereotypes about their cultures and share interesting facts. Participants in the event will be able to ask the speakers questions or share stereotypes and myths they have heard and are confused about.
I am eager to contribute my skills, creativity, and passion to the Student Council. My leadership experience, commitment to inclusivity, and dedication to enhancing student life make me a strong candidate for this role. I am confident we can create a more connected, supportive, and dynamic campus community by working collaboratively with fellow council members and the student body.
I look forward to the opportunity to make a meaningful difference and to help shape a brighter future for our university.
Thank you for considering my application. I am excited about the prospect of serving our community and would be honored to contribute to the success of the Student Council.
Sincerely,
Yulianna Balitska
